5 Rs Idli Hub

5 Rs Idli Hub

Shine NGO starts Idli Hub

Shine NGO has launched a unique Idli Hub in collaboration with the CSC Academy. The hub aims to provide relief to thousands of needy and underprivileged people affected by the pandemic in Hyderabad and nearby areas. The eatery provides a nutritious morning breakfast comprising four idlis for just Rs. 5 per plate. The center is located at Turkayamajal, in Rangareddy district, and hopes to solve the hunger pangs of the poor by providing them food at least once a day.

The revolutionary concept is in line with the NGO’s other previous path-breaking initiatives related to various women empowerment, skill enhancement, child development, education, and health programs. The founder, CH Parameshwari decided to launch the initiative, realizing that the city houses several people who go to bed on a hungry stomach being deeply impacted by the current Covid-19 crisis.

The pandemic has impacted millions of people all over India. People have lost the lives of family members who were the sole breadwinners of their homes. Several employees lost their jobs since companies ran into heavy losses. There is a lot of insecurity about the future still prevailing in people’s minds. The Idli Hub has come as a welcome relief to people in Hyderabad and surrounding regions affected by the current crisis. The morning meal will also provide the required nutrition to help people build their immunity against the virus and keep themselves healthy.

What is heartwarming is that the meal is available to all and is provided free of cost to those who cannot afford the money. The hub is open from morning 7 to 9 with around six women volunteers serving the needy. The meal comprises four wholesome idlis, along with chutney and Karam podi. The food is prepared at the NGO office at LB Nagar and sent to the center every day.

The idli is made very hygienically using the best ingredients available. There has been no compromise made regarding the quality of the Idlis, despite the food being low priced, and strict quality checks are done frequently. The kitchen where it is made is thoroughly sanitized and the staff preparing it also undergoes health checks to minimize risks of contamination.

This Idli Hub is an exemplary, non-profit venture that only seeks to provide selfless service to underprivileged people. The hub currently receives at least 200 visitors daily and has so far already served thousands of people. All safety norms related to Covid-19 like social distancing, wearing of masks, and minimizing hand contact are maintained. The volunteers serving the people are highly committed to public service, and being well-trained, take all the necessary precautions.

The initiative has received encouragement and financial support from people all over India who appreciate the NGO’s efforts to support people who lost their livelihood due to the pandemic. It has received praises from all sections of society for the laudable effort to fulfill the poor people’s hunger at affordable rates. The NGO plans to open more such Idli centers so that it can cater to needy people in other areas also.
